What NZSA Corporate Member self-audits are and why they matter for the whole industry.
The NZSA introduced Corporate Member self-audits in April 2026. This initiative was approved by members at the 2025 AGM and aims to help improve standards across the security sector.
Completing an annual audit is mandatory for Corporate Members to maintain their membership status and audits apply to all Corporate Member businesses except those operating exclusively as Security Consultants. An audit for Security Consultants is in development.
The audits include sections about:
- The company’s structure
- Employment procedures
- Health and safety
- Training and CoA status
Along with sections for specific services including:
- Protective security services (guard and patrol services)
- Electronic security and installations
- Alarm monitoring
The audits will be reviewed by our independent auditors Colin Pascoe and David Withers. Our auditors are empowered to help members who have not reached the required standards to adjust their processes to gain audit approval – consultation is key to helping members improve.
All our members, customers and the wider community will benefit, knowing that NZSA Corporate members are working to a very high standard.
This initiative has the backing of PSPLA Registrar Trish McConnell who believes that through self-audits we can raise our standards and lower the number of complaints, prosecutions and non-compliance issues that they see.
