2026 Nomination Information

The nomination process for the 2026 New Zealand Security Awards opens on 29th June 2026, and closes at 5pm on Friday 14th August 2026.

The judging panel for this year’s Awards event (to be held at Huihui Parliament, Wellington, on Friday 11th September 2026) comprises:
– Colin Pascoe, Independent Consultant, NZSA Ambassador
– Gary Morrison, NZSA CEO
– Ngaire Kelaher, ASIS International APAC Regional Board Member

Given the number of entries expected over the award categories, the judges will be looking for high quality nominations.

Here are some helpful tips for submitting your nomination:

  1. Ensure your nomination is fully compliant with our Conditions of Entry
  2. Directly address the “recognition” requirements specified in the Category Criteria. For example, in the Guarding Sector Trainee of the Year category, the Category Criteria requires you to prove that your nominee:
    – Displays commitment towards training and achieving results though the NZQA national qualification framework.
    – Is self-motivated, sets goals and aspires to progress their security career.
  3. Include examples and/or stories to demonstrate the attributes and achievements of the nominee within the maximum wordcount of 5000 characters and ensure they are honest and factual. These can be supported by attachments to the nomination but please limit these to relevant customer references/testimonials and/or metrics only (max. 2 attachments, max. 2MB file size each)
  4. Keep to the brief provided by the Category Criteria and do not get side-tracked with additional unnecessary information and details
  5. We highly recommended that you ask a trusted third party to proofread your nomination before you submit it, to ensure that it reads well, is concise, addresses all of the Category Criteria and effectively “sells” the merits of your nominee
  6. Prepare and submit your nomination/s well in advance of the closing date so as to avoid any unforeseen time pressures or delays. Our Conditions of Entry clearly state that late entries will not be accepted.

On behalf of the judging panel, we look forward to receiving a large number of outstanding nominations this year and to recognising the best of the best in the security industry. Thank you for taking the time to make a nomination.
