Crowded Places – 2026

Security of Crowded Places
in New Zealand Forum 2026

DATE: Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 July 2026
VENUE: Eden Park, Auckland

The New Zealand Security Association is pleased to invite security industry providers, stakeholders, and the owners and operators of crowded places and venues to the 2026 Security of Crowded Places in New Zealand Forum.

About the Forum

Following the success of the inaugural 2025 Forum, the NZSA is bringing together senior security practitioners, venue operators, and key stakeholders for a second year to continue building the knowledge, skills, and capability needed to protect New Zealand’s crowded places.

The Forum will cover the latest developments in New Zealand’s Crowded Places Strategy and associated resources, with the goal of equipping attendees to disseminate that knowledge and capability to their organisations and colleagues.

Learning outcomes will be particularly relevant for senior managers and training managers within security providers, security consultants, and those with direct responsibility for crowded places and venues.

The Forum covers a full two days and attendees need to be able to commit to being present throughout.

What Will Be Covered

Presentation topics and speakers are being finalised and will include:

  • The New Zealand threat environment
  • NZ Crowded Places Strategy and resources
  • International trends and developments
  • Technology developments
  • A review of recent incidents and post-incident learnings

The Forum will also feature Knowledge Cafe sessions — collaborative workshops where participants share knowledge and help develop better capability to enhance the security of crowded places.

What is a Crowded Place?

Crowded places are locations that large numbers of people access easily and predictably. They include sporting arenas, transport hubs and public transport, buildings and offices, schools, shopping centres, restaurants, hotels, theatres and other entertainment venues, community festivals and markets, places of worship, tourist attractions, and civic spaces. Crowded places also include open spaces like busy urban streets, parks, and pedestrian malls.
