The nomination process for the 2024 New Zealand Security Awards opens on 24th June 2024, and closes at 5pm on Thursday 15th August 2024.

The judging panel for this year’s Awards event (to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Auckland on Friday 20th September 2024) comprises:
– Colin Pascoe, Independent Consultant, NZSA Ambassador
– Gary Morrison, NZSA CEO
– Lincoln Potter, Independent Consultant, NZSA Ambassador
– Ngaire Kelaher, ASIS New Zealand Regional Vice President

Given the number of entries expected over the award categories, the judges will be looking for high quality nominations.

Here are a some helpful tips for submitting your nomination:

  1. Ensure your nomination is fully compliant with our Conditions of Entry
  2. Directly address the “recognition” requirements specified in the Category Criteria. For example, in the Guarding Sector Trainee of the Year category, the Category Criteria requires you to prove that your nominee:
    • Displays commitment towards training
    • Has achieved results through the NZQA national qualification framework
    • Inspires others and leads by example
  1. Tips for addressing the Category Criteria “recognition” requirements:
    • Address these recognition requirements individually, in the order listed within the Category Criteria. The judges award points for each of the specified recognition requirements so it is very important that each one is responded to as failure to do so will have a significant impact on the total score allocation
    • Use headings or bullet points to address each Category Criteria
    • Demonstrate your points as clearly and concisely as possible so that the judges do not need to read through long answers to find the information they require
  1. Include examples, stories and references to demonstrate the attributes and achievements of the nominee but ensure they are honest and factual. These can be supported by attachments to the nomination but please limit these to relevant documents only (max. 2 attachments, max. 2MB file size each)
  2. Keep to the brief provided by the Category Criteria and do not get side-tracked with additional unnecessary information and details
  3. We highly recommended that you ask a trusted third party to proof read your nomination before you submit it, to ensure that it reads well, is concise, addresses all of the Category Criteria and effectively “sells” the merits of your nominee
  4. Prepare and submit your nomination/s well in advance of the closing date so as to avoid any unforeseen time pressures or delays. Our Conditions of Entry clearly state that late entries will not be accepted.

On behalf of the judging panel, we look forward to receiving a large number of outstanding nominations this year and to recognising the best of the best in the security industry. Thank you for taking the time to make a nomination.
