NZ Security Strategy & Protective Security Requirements

For the New Zealand security sector and our customers, the need to stay informed on our nation’s security strategies and operate inline with the guidance in those strategies is crucial.

This is of even greater relevance for government agencies, critical infrastructure and those managing crowed places. The New Zealand Security Strategy and the Protective Security Requirements are the two key resources for our sector and those who rely on our services.

NZ Security Strategy

The New Zealand Security Strategy was developed out of the recommendations of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Christchurch mosque attacks. The strategy is an updated approach focused on acting early and working together to create a more secure New Zealand, now and into the future.

The New Zealand security sector has a critical role to play in bringing the strategy to life as frontline protectors and responders who can use our training and resources to keep New Zealanders safe from violent extremism and help the public enact the Government’s Crowded Places ‘Escape, Hide, Tell’ strategy.

Protective security services sub-panel

Protective Security Requirements

The protective security services sub-panel is part of the operations management and risk subcategory for consultancy services. It is a risk based protective security framework which provides holistic protective security policies and guidance for agencies to better help agencies manage business risks and assure continuity of service delivery.

Inclusion in this panel does not imply that a vendor can provide services and expertise across all aspects of protective security or the protective security services (PSR). Some vendors are specialised in a particular area or function of protective security, such as InfoSec or audit.

Agencies should undertake due diligence to ensure they are selecting a vendor with the appropriate qualification, skills, and experience to assist with their protective security requirement.
